Mine Engineer

Wage ranges from $80,000-$100,000- Based on Experience

Mine Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the coordination, development, and evaluation of various engineering projects. The mine engineer will also display problem solving skills and able to assist other departments in the implementation of new technology. Excellent interpersonal and organization skills are required. Applicants must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Part 48 MSHA required. Training available onsite. All Pattison employees must hold a valid Driver’s License.

Primary Responsibilities
  • icon Assist in coordinating mining, mechanical and other engineering projects to include in developing a scope of work, generating cost estimate and preparing a project plan. Current projects are mine development at Wille; mine design, ventilation, reserve management and waste area management.
  • icon Assist in evaluating current systems and processes and implement optimizations to improve efficiencies. Current items are; understanding mine yield of sand size, improve understanding of cap rock and above and below, 1-3 years out – improving hauling system to the plant.
  • icon Project work including project development, budgeting, engineering, purchasing, construction, cost control, quality controls and implementation..
  • icon Develop engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve safety efficiencies, cost control, quality controls and implementation.
  • icon Develop engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve safety efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environment.
  • icon Promote and initiate positive employee relations designed to facilitate teamwork and job satisfaction through participation..
  • icon Participate with operating and maintenance departments in problems solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls, and protection of the environment..
  • icon Assist operating and maintenance departments in the implementation of new technology.
  • icon May be assigned to Long Range Planning, Short Range Planning, Surveying, or Technical Support.
  • icon Help with MSHA interactions..
  • icon Mainly working day shifts Monday – Friday but there will be some work that is needed on nights and weekends in that we work 24/365..
  • icon Performs other duties as required.
Working Conditions
  • icon May work up to 12 hour shifts.
  • icon Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • icon Must be able to communicate and coordinate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • icon Must have high safety standards for self and others
  • icon Must be willing to work any assigned shift, overtime, weekends and holidays
  • icon Must have the ability to stand for 6-12 hours on uneven sandy/rocky surfaces
  • icon Must have the ability to lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • icon Must have the ability to bend or stoop
  • icon Must have the ability to climb on and off equipment and ladders
  • icon Must be able to work at heights
  • icon  Must have the ability to work in damp, dimly lit and confined work areas
Shift Details
This position will be Monday – Friday with 12 hour shifts
  • icon Excellent analytical, management, organization, and communication and problem solving skills.
  • icon Scaling both hand and mechanically
  • icon Must demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, work with minimum supervision, and have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs.
  • icon The Mine Engineer is expected to contribute to maximizing the safety, productivity, environmental compliance, and cost effectiveness of the company
Education & Experience
B.S. degree in Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering is required.
